About the Jardini Arowana

The Jardini Arowana (Scleropages jardini), also known as the Australian Pearl Arowana or Gulf Saratoga, is a stunning species native to Australia and New Guinea. Unlike the more common Silver Arowana, the Jardini features distinctive spotted patterns on its scales and a more robust, muscular body.

Jardini Arowanas are known for their hardiness and adaptability, making them an excellent choice for experienced keepers who want a unique, aggressive Arowana. They are much more aggressive than their South American cousins and should be kept alone in most cases.

Key Features:

  • Distinctive spotted/pearled scale pattern
  • Robust, muscular body structure
  • Extremely hardy and disease-resistant
  • Very aggressive - best kept alone
  • Lifespan: 10-15 years with proper care
  • Legal in all 50 states - no CITES required

The Jardini Arowana is often confused with the Leichardti Arowana. The key difference is that Jardinis have spotted scales while Leichardtis have striped patterns. Both are Australian species known for their aggressive nature.
